Using their library card, Livingston Parish Library patrons can take home a tablet!

These tablets are portable mobile computing devices with a touchscreen, which allows users to browse the Internet, do work, or play games via installed apps.

The Livingston Parish Library has two types of tablets available for checkout: Launchpads and iPads.

The tablets are intended to further the Library's mission to provide all members of the community with resources and programs to fulfill their informational, educational, recreational, and cultural needs.

Launchpads are family-friendly learning tablets for the Library's young patrons!

These sturdy, all-in-one tablets are designed to keep children entertained and educated via pre-loaded stories, activities, and games. They are perfect for a night at home or your next family road trip.

The kits come in a protective case along with a charging cord, allowing for hours of fun. An Internet connection is not required to utilize the Launchpads, since they are pre-loaded.

LPL patrons can check out one (1) Launchpad for seven (7) days, and Launchpads are limited to one (1) renewal.

Launchpads are available at all five LPL branches, and they can be requested online.

In the summer of 2023, the Livingston Parish Library acquired a supply of iPads using federal grant dollars administered through the Louisiana Statewide Digital Inclusion Pilot.

The Library offers the use of iPads to parish residents as E-readers, to surf the internet in combination with Wi-Fi, and as tools to spread digital literacy.

Adult, Educator, and Senior Citizen LPL cardholders in good standing can check out iPads for up to six weeks, with no renewals.

Only one iPad per account can be checked out at a time, and they cannot be checked out to the same patron within fourteen (14) days of their last return.

Holds and renewals are not allowed, and iPads must be checked out in person.

Each iPad kit contains an iPad in a protective case, a power adapter, and a charging cable.
